Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy is an in-office procedure designed to treat sun damaged skin with precancerous lesions. It not only treats visible lesions but also any underlying sun damage, with a goal of minimizing any future precancers or skin cancers.
The procedure involves the application of a topical gel, Ameluz®, followed by an incubation period. The final step is exposure to a red light for 10 minutes. Patients can expect to be in the office for approximately 2 hours for a treatment. We have a comfortable private waiting area for PDT patients.
After treatment with PDT, Drs Menon and Tracey advised patients to avoid direct sunlight for the first 48 hours.
